Esthetics in Adolescence
Esthetics has always been the center of attention for all ages. Bone support of the facial tissues, proper occlusion, gingival contour and healthy dentition contributes to the look of the face and beauty. In a growing child and adolescent, it is harder to treat the disorders because of the changes that occur till adulthood. The dentist should postpone the proper treatment till the end of the full growth of the child but also needs to provide esthetics and function. This lecture will talk about the challenges we encounter with ongoing development of occlusion and apex. There will be representative cases with dental trauma, white spot lesions, and developmental defects such as hypoplasia. The transitional multidisciplinary treatment and minimal invasive approach until the completion of growth will be discussed.
