LECTURE ABSTRACT

The ultimate improvement in peri-implant tissue management: introduction to Morphogenic Tissue Management Approach.

In areas of aesthetical relevance, the correction of anatomical deficits due to loss of the dental elements and tissues often involves the use of multiple regenerative surgical steps, such as the use of membranes, bone transplant and / or tissue grafting.

After these surgical steps, an extended tissue conditioning time is required using provisional restorations, and it can last up to several months.

The presentation will introduce an integrated surgical and prosthetic procedure named “Morphogenic Tissue Management Approach”; this procedure can be used in the first four classes of Cawood and Howell and can help to restore anatomical deficits.

The advantages can be summarized as follows:

  • the implement of a minimally invasive approach.
  • the use of a single regenerative surgical phase during and by means of the insertion of the implant.
  • the disposal of the use of membranes, transplants of bone and connective tissue.
  • the use of implant-prosthetic components to plan, achieve and maintain the designed peri-implant tissue anatomy.
  • the project (in dental-lab) of the expected morphology of the peri-implant tissues.
  • the achievement of the reduction of the time therapy, leading to 3 or 4 months.

The developed concept, if properly applied, will allow the restorative team to regularly obtain predictability between the prosthetic project and the final result using a really minimally invasive approach.

Learning objectives:

  • To define the indications for MTM approach
  • To describe the operative timing which characterise the anatomical recovery of the implant site through the use of MTM
  • To Introduce to treatment plan based on failure and on the concept of exit strategy.
